Preface

Cura is “slicer”: a program that converts 3D models into instructions for 3D printers by “slicing” the models into thing horizontal slices. Without Cura, you would have no good way of telling your JellyBOX what to print!

Cura improves all the time!* Make sure to upgrade to get the latest and greatest features and fixes.

Known Issues

Possible SD Card Boot Loop. Some people experience SD card issues if they use the ‘save to SD’ button from within Cura. When the SD card would be inserted in the LCD SD card reader, the JellyBOX would get stuck in a boot loop and never start (only as long as the SD is inserted)! We’re investigating this bug.
Easy Workaround: Save the gcode to the disc first, and then copy it to the SD card. This works fine!
Fix if this happens: Format the SD card (howto guide for PC, howto guide for Mac) and all will be fine.

Installation Notes

  • After installation, on the first opening Cura may scream at you (or not!) that there are Configuration Errors and give you the option to Reset all settings. The reason is that Cura has changed the structure of the configuration files.
  • DO that. Reset and restart Cura. Your old configurations will be backed up. Kindly write to support@imade3d.com for help with recovering/upgrading your old configurations.

Cura IE 3.5.1 (Latest)

Highlights

  • Installation Process is smoother than ever.
  • Features. It’s not an overstatement that this is our biggest Cura release in about a year. There’s a slew of new features, new slicing profiles, zillions of bugs fixes and many improvements all around.
  • JellyBOX 2. This release is big for JellyBOX 2. The slicing profiles, start, and end gstrongs are improved and the materials as well.
  • JellyBOX Original. This release is HUGE for JellyBOX Original. The slicing profiles, start, and end gstrongs are completely new and have finally cought up with JellyBOX 2. Yes. You can now benefit from the the same great profiles that JellyBOX 2 has with no extra work. This update is recommended for absolutely everyone.

Cura 3.5.1 (Latest)

Highlights

  • Installation Process is smoother than ever. We managed to get approved as Apple Developers (yay). The app is digitally signed, so even non-admins should be able to install Cura IE now!

Unfortunately, our Linux release is behind PC and Mac. We do not like this, but our resources are extremely limited, and less than 1% of our users use Linux. We are working on getting this fixed.

Linux users may be better off running the latest Ultimaker Cura, live with the confusing and irrelevant options therein, and edit the JellyBOX integrations manually.

Cura 3.3.1.7 (Newest for Linux)

Highlights: This release adds some fancy dynamic gcode that automatically adjusts temperatures. It also tweaks the start gcode to have a less jarring beep and a more understandable LCD message before a print. There are numerous esthetic bug fixes.
